Custom Field 4 (MPN): 00LY374
IBM ES8K 1.9 TB SAS 2.5-inch (SFF) read intensive SSD is formatted in 4k byte sectors and mounted on a 2.5-inch SFF-3 carrier tray to fit in a IBM POWER system unit. The IBM ES8K SSD is rated at 6Gb/s, but actual performance will vary based on many factors, including customer workloads. The IBM ES8K has CCIN of 5B20, and may have 00LY374 00LY560 01LU806 01LU903 02YC596 02YC647 02YC706 02YC845 part number, and has an actual capacity is 1.86 TB. The IBM ES8K SSD is designed for read intensive workloads with light write activity. Approximately 3,394 TB of data can be written over the life of the ES8K SSD, but will vary based on IBM i workloads. After the warranty period, if the maximum write capability is achieved, the drive's replacement is not covered under IBM maintenance. The IBM 5B20 solid state drive is rated at 6Gb/s, but actual performance will vary based on many factors for including customer workloads. IBM 5B20 1.9TB Mainstream SSD 4k eMLC4 is supported on IBM i, AIX, Linux Servers and VIOS.
The IBM ES8K ES8J ESHU ESJA ESJB ESHV EL8J ES80 ES92 ES93 ES96 ES97 ES81 ES8K ESHB SSD feature codes are physically identical solid state drives, but use different feature codes to for OS type and placement by the IBM configurator.
All IBM hardware purchases are eligible for existing IBM maintenance and support agreements, includes warranty and free technical support during normal business hours. Onsite and remote professional services requried outside normal business hours are provided for an additional fee.
EXP24S's SFF-2 bays. JBOD formatting of 4096 byte sectors is not tested or supported. Drive cannot be reformatted to 5xx byte sectors. 5xx and 4k drives cannot be mixed in the same array.
IBM i Power8 servers running IBM i OS400 7.2 TR4, 7.3 or higher use a new 2.5" Read Intensive SAS SSD. This drive is intended to provide a lower cost per TB of SSD storage in a space-efficient footprint. Like all SSDs, performance is superior to hard disk drives (HDDs). Use the SSD Fuel Gauge to monitor the number of writes that are made to the drive. The SFF-3 carriers are for use in the CEC gen3 bays. The SFF-2 carriers are for use in the gen2 slots in the EXP24S SFF Gen2-bay Drawer EL1S. In addition, IBM i Virtualization configurations are supported for IBM i 7.3, 7.2 and 7.1, but for IBM i 7.1 it is client support only and the client has a size limit of 1.2 TB.
