IBM Power10 Disk SSD NVMe Flash Storage
IBM Power10 Disk and NVMe SSD Flash Storage upgrades for IBM models:
IBM Power10 models only support Non-Volatile Memory Express NVMe flash drives, and do not support SAS interface SSD or HDD except within IBM EXP24SX SAS storage expansion drawers.
IBM NVMe SSD are supported across all Power10 models
Most IBM NVMe SSD are supported across all Power10 models and operating systems (IBM i, AIX, Linux and VIOS), and will have the same CCIN and Part Number.
The IBM Configurator will use different feature codes for the SSD Flash Memory Adapter or Module for various purposes, including designating the correct format of the drive required for the operating system.
NVMe SSD for IBM i will have the flash storage formatted into 4160 byte sectors, whereas AIX, Linux and VIOS flash storage formatted into 4096 byte sectors.
