Note: The full-high FH 00GH814 LTO 8 tape drives provide faster data transfer rates than half-high HH LTO 8 tape drives. For instance, 360 MB/s is the maximum native data transfer rate of a FH LTO 8, whereas 300 MB/s is the maximum for HH LTO 8. Both the HH and FH Ultrium 7 LTO tape drives have 300 MB/s maximum transfer rate, and both the HH and FH Ultrium 6 LTO tape drives have a 160 MB/s maximum transfer rate.

The actual capacity varies depending on the application, the type of data, and the tape cartridge. 2.5 TB is typical and 6.25 TB is possible when the Data Compression setting is activated. LTO data transfer rates are also greatly improved when using compression. The default setting of Data Compression is controlled by the host system. The user and the application software can control the activation or deactivation of the data compression setting. The drive can typically achieve a 2.5:1 compression ratio.
