These DVD-ROMs are 5 1/4-inch, half-high devices that mount in a removable media device slot. They can read 640MB CD-ROM and 4.7GB DVD-RAM media. They can be used for Alternate IPL (IBM distributed CD-ROM media only) and program distribution.
Prerequisites: Removable media device slot and disk unit controller in the system unit or expansion tower/unit where the device is mounted.
