ThinkSystem SR850P is a dense, fast, highly reliable four processor system engineered for maximum performance for high-growth, memory intensive workloads. Designed for large memory capacity, flexible storage configurations, advanced RAS features and XClarity Management, the ThinkSystem SR850P supports a full UPI mesh design to deliver up to 20% better performance than the ThinkSystem SR850.
The four processors in the SR850P are configured in a mesh configuration to maximize performance in multi-threaded applications. The ThinkSystem SR850P’s agile design provides rapid upgrades for memory, and its large, flexible storage capacity helps to keep pace with data growth.

With the SR850P, the four processors are connected in a "mesh" configuration, where each processor is directly connected to the 3 other processors via 3 high-speed UPI links. On the other hand, the SR850 uses a "ring" configuration, where each processor connects only to the two adjacent processors. You will see a performance benefit of the mesh configuration with multi-threaded applications that have a lot of thread-to-thread communications and memory transfers.
