The IBM 7226-1U3 Multi-Media Enclosure supports data encryption on the base drive with media meeting LTO consortium specifications and application managed encryption (IEEE P1619.1-2007 compliant AES-GCM 256 bit encryption algorithm). Data encryption is performed after data compression and has a minimal affect on data rate and capacity. Data encryption is also available for other drive types and is controlled by system software, except DVD-RAM.
