#2688 is a feature for adding up to two optical buses. #2688 can be used to attach up to two #5065s, #5072s, #5073s, #5082s, or #5083s in any combination or one #5066. The prerequisite for adding #2688 is #2695 or an open IOA slot in the system units base Optical Bus Adapter, in the #5077 Migration Tower II, or an OLP position on the #9329 and #9330, or in the #9331 on a #5034/#5035 Migration Tower I.

Maximum: Nine with #5077 Migration Tower II; two with #5034/#5035 Migration Tower I.

Note: Three optical cables are required to attach two towers to a #2688. Each #2688 shipped includes two optical cables for attaching the first tower. The second tower shipped for a #2688 includes only one optical cable. The second tower will be attached in a ring with the first tower and the #2688.
